How to download a NotebookLM Video Overview
Video Overviews turn your sources into a narrated video with visuals. Getting the file off NotebookLM is genuinely simple — the catches are where, not how.
NotebookLM was renamed Gemini Notebook in July 2026. Video download is identical under both names.
Generate the video in the Studio panel, then open the three-dot menu on the video tile and choose Download. You get a standard video file. Two catches: it is desktop/web only — the mobile app cannot download — and free-tier exports carry a watermark you can strip with our free watermark remover.
The steps
- In the Studio panel, generate a Video Overview if you have not already. Generation takes a few minutes and runs in the background — you can keep working.
- When it is ready, hover the video tile and open the three-dot (⋮) menu in its corner.
- Choose Download. The file saves as a standard video, playable anywhere and ready to embed, upload or share.
The mobile catch
Downloading a Video Overview only works on the desktop web version. The mobile app will play the video but offers no download. If you generated it on your phone, open notebooklm.google.com on a computer, signed into the same account — the video is there, and the download menu appears.
The watermark
On the free tier the downloaded video carries a small Gemini Notebook watermark. A paid Ultra plan exports clean, but for the occasional video that is a lot to pay for one badge. What you can do with the file
- Embed it in a course, a Notion page, or a slide — it is a normal video file.
- Upload to YouTube or LinkedIn as a summary of your material. Strip the watermark first if it is public-facing.
- Archive it alongside the notebook. Videos are regenerated from scratch each time; downloading keeps the exact version you liked.
