How to export NotebookLM to PDF

Five steps, about a minute the first time. Nothing after step one requires thought.

  1. 01

    Install the extension

Add NotebookLM to PDF from the Chrome Web Store. No account, no sign-up. It stays idle until you open a notebook.

  2. 02

    Open your notebook

Go to notebooklm.google.com and open the chat, note or report you want to keep.

  3. 03

    Click Export to PDF

Use the export button the extension adds to the page toolbar, or open it from the extension popup.

  4. 04

Choose what goes on the page

Page size, timestamps, code and LaTeX formatting, inline citations. Include one chat or several at once.

  5. 05

    Save the file

The document renders in your browser and lands in your downloads a second later, text selectable throughout.

What survives the export

A screenshot loses everything below the surface. Copy-paste loses the citations. Here is what lands on the page instead.

Inline citationsThe numbered source references stay attached to the claims they support, and carry into footnotes.
Code blocksMonospacing, indentation and line structure survive. The code is still selectable text, not a picture.
Math & LaTeXInline and display equations are typeset properly rather than flattened into an image or dropped.
Headings & flowQuestions, answers and notes keep their reading order and hierarchy, so the file reads as a document.
TablesColumns hold their alignment and stay inside the page instead of being clipped at the right margin.

Nothing leaves the browser

The extension reads the notebook you already have open, builds the file on your machine, and hands it to you. There is no upload, no account, and no server in the path — because there is no server.
